The Hamilton Farmers' Market and the City of Hamilton's Indigenous Relations Division invite you to join us this January for 'Indian Cookies with Kathy Smoke: demonstration, conversation, and tasting'.

Local elder Kathy Smoke will be leading two demonstrations, one at 10AM and a second at 11AM. She'll walk participants through her Indian cookie recipe while inviting questions, conversation and eventually a taste! Kathy Smoke is Bear Clan from the Cayuga Nation of the Six Nations of the Grand River. She has lived in Hamilton for 35 years and has long been involved in the community as an Elder, parent, and grandparent.

Through her work with various Indigenous community agencies, Kathy shares her Indigenous teachings, knowledge, and lived experience with community members of all ages. With the hope of building understanding, respect, and appreciation for Indigenous culture, and inspiring future generations to carry these teachings with them.

An esoteric from a young age, stylo has always turned to collage as a creative outlet and enjoyed the treasure-hunt process of collecting magazine clippings, trinkets and oddities. Her work is driven by the observation and integration of fine layered detail in collaboration with her amateur interests in astrology, crystals, herbalism and the metaphysical - all of which are frequently featured in her collages. stylo is based in her hometown of Hamilton, Ontario, situated upon the traditional territories of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Mississaugas.
