Recognizing Former Members of the Canadian Military within the Hamilton Farmers’ Market.

November 11th is Remembrance Day. On this day we acknowledge the courage and sacrifices made by those who served in defence of our country so that we may enjoy peace and freedom in our everyday lives. The Hamilton Farmers’ Market will share in this recognition of past, present and future members of the Canadian Armed Forces. On Remembrance Day, join us in paying our respects with a moment of silence at 11:00 am. We thank the brave men and women for everything they’ve done in the service of Canada.

We recognize two former Canadian Military members within our Hamilton Farmers’ Market Vendor Community;

JAMES FROM COUNTRY GREEN GARDENS

From 1974 to 1984, James served in the Canadian Military as a Military Police Officer. He said he was proud to serve his country during his time in the Military. He started in the Cadet program right here in Hamilton, Ontario at the Army Cadets 2865 Hamilton Artillery Battery when he was only 11 years old.

JASON FROM SAM’S CHEESE AND MEATS

From 2002 to 2011, Jason served as a Boatswain in the Canadian Military. Boatswains are the seamanship specialists of the Armed Forces. They are responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the ship’s rigging, shipboard cargo handling equipment, boats and small craft.  Jason always said he had a calling to serve and was eager to help his Country. He enjoyed his 9 years serving in the Military and had the opportunity to go to many stations in Canada including Victoria, Halifax, and Québec.

Thank you to James and Jason for your time and efforts in the Canadian Armed Forces.

The York Blvd. front entrance to the Market has poppies available for a donation at the Meridian Kiosk. All proceeds go to the Royal Canadian Legion.
