Shop At The Market to Create the Ultimate Charcuterie Board

A charcuterie board is a beautiful arrangement of a variety of meats and cheeses and often fruit or nuts; essentially a meat and cheese board! These ready-to-eat foods make for easy entertaining, cocktail hour bites, and even convenient snacking.

It’s very easy to prepare a charcuterie board and you can find absolutely everything you need at the Hamilton Farmers’ Market.

Here’s a list of food options we suggest for your charcuterie board available at the Market:

Meat:

Use 3-4 slices of meat per person when building a board. You can use a variety of flavors and textures with different varieties of meats. Be sure you have options for both mild and bold flavors, as well as middle-of-the-road options.

Cheese:

Choose a variety of cheeses; about 1 or 2 oz per person. Look for various hard and soft cheeses from mellow to sharp.  Cheeses is easiest to serve if already pre-sliced. Cheese is best served at room temperature. Remove cheeses from the fridge about a half hour before serving. Serve with a separate knife for each cheese so flavors don’t mingle.

Fruits & Nuts:

Both dried and fresh fruit will add gorgeous color and lots of flavor to your charcuterie board! Keep in mind a variety of colors for a beautiful board.  Your nuts should be shelled and salted.

Bread & Crackers:

Variety is key: your offerings can range from grain crackers, freshly sliced bread or toasted baguettes.

Pickles, Olives and Dips:

Adding small bowls filled with dill pickles, olives, jellies, mustards and delicious dips add that extra zing and flavor to your board. Don’t be afraid to offer one of each!

Creating the arrangement:

Putting all these elements together, you will end up with a board that has a variety of pairing options! Have fun & be creative while displaying your finished product! Be sure to provide capable serving tools. Quality cheese knives, a small dish or bowl for olive pits and spoons for jarred items are essential when crafting the charcuterie experience.

Before Serving…

Before your friends & family start to dig in, take a quick minute to explain to them what everything is on the board. Just a general run down of what everything is called is helpful to take a little bit of the guesswork out of making choices. Guests always have a blast figuring out what flavors they like best together.
